Santa Claus Isn't Coming to Town

When the month of December rolls around we usually expect to be bombarded with Christmas and holiday movies. We await the Harry Potter marathons and the all day running of The Christmas Story. We hope to be lucky enough to catch our favorite childhood Christmas cartoon on television. We figure that the media and movies will be full of cheer and joy but times are changing and this holiday season there is something else coming to town.  On December 4th Krampus will be released in theaters and this is not your traditional Christmas movie.

Krampus is a comedy/fantasy/horror movie about a German folklore character named Krampus. Krampus is a sort of anti-Saint Nicholas personality who punishes childern that are bad.  Movies about this fable have been made before and more are in pre-production for the upcoming years but this certain film is taking a different twist. Director Michael Dougherty, writer of such films as Superman Returns and X-Men 2, is taking this scary tale and lightening it up with some so called humor. Well known funny people such as Adam Scott (Step Brothers), David Koechner (Anchorman), Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine) and Conchata Ferrell (Two and a Half Men) make up the dysfunctional family plagued by Krampus. With a comical cast and an intimidating Christmas creature I believe this film may be one of the more popular Krampus movies made. It may not be the most merry holiday movie you watch this season but I may be the most memorable.
